Take a look at the Fall 2008 edition of the Volunteer Viewpoint!

Surrey Services depends on the energy and commitment of hundreds of volunteers each year. Volunteers range in age from elementary school age to individuals in their ninth decade. Over two-thirds of Surrey volunteers are older people themselves; they are seniors helping other seniors.
  • Help deliver activities such as Surrey’s drama, antique club, chorus, needlework and crafts, field trips, exercise classes, and much more
  • Offer companionship and services, including daily phone calls and reading for the visually impaired
  • Perform minor home repair work and light gardening
  • Drive Surrey members to medical appointments, the grocery store, and do a variety of other errands
  • Shop for homebound members
  • Assist with a variety of clerical and data entry tasks at our locations
  • Put their professional expertise and experience to work on committees, including volunteer recruitment and community outreach

The 2008 Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
Honors Two Surrey Angels

For the first time, Surrey honored two angels, one for each Surrey site. Don Fach received the Angel Award for Broomall and Ceil Ohlandt received the Angel Award for Berwyn.  Both Don and Ceil were chosen as they exemplified the true meaning of volunteering – selfless giving from the heart.  They have not only donated hundreds of hours over the years to Surrey and its community, but have embraced volunteerism as an important part of their lives.

If you want to volunteer at Surrey Services, call Linda at 610-647-6404 or  email info@surreyservices.org.  Opportunities are available on both a regular (weekly/bi-weekly or seasonal), and flexible basis.
