With support from Delaware and Chester Counties, Surrey provides discounted minibus transportation for members 65+ on a shared ride basis throughout the area.  Surrey takes members to medical appointments, to the grocery store, and to errands.  Members who are 55 to 65 must pay un-subsidized fares. For those who are too frail to use the minibus service, personal escort drivers are available to offer door-to-door transportation.

Door-to-door shared ride services are available weekdays 8 AM to 5 PM.  Surrey members should call in advance as all reservations are on a first-come, first served basis. Fares and other registration procedures vary depending on whether members live in Chester or Delaware county.

If you live in Chester County or northern Delaware County (from Wayne to Bryn Mawr), call Transportation at 610-993-9493 for more information or to schedule a ride using the shared ride service. In all other areas of Delaware County call 610-544-1770 to schedule a ride.

For those who cannot use the shared ride program, Surrey Service’s volunteers provide personalized driver escort services.  These volunteers drive Surrey members door-to-door and enable them to get to appointments.  While the escort service is staffed by volunteers, there are administrative and other costs associated with this service.  Typically, therefore, Surrey members make a $5 donation for local rides, including grocery shopping.  For rides outside the local area, a $10 donation is the norm.

Call Kit in Berwyn at 610-647-6404 or Susanne in Broomall at 610-544-1770 for more information or to schedule a ride using the driver escort service.
